The jackfruit comes from northern India and is the largest tree fruit in the world. It can weigh up to 15 kg and takes the form of a pear. The flesh of the jackfruit is low in calories and fat and rich in vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. The smallholders pick the unripe jackfruit for the veggie balls. Eating unripe jackfruit is great for making savory dishes because of its texture and neutral flavor.
By the way: did you know that our jackfruit comes from an Indian smallholder cooperative? You support sustainable agriculture in the country of origin.
