Jackfruit: Meat alternative straight from the tree

When it comes to meat substitutes, the jackfruit is the new discovery in the food segment. When unripe, the consistency and texture of the largest tree fruit in the world can hardly be distinguished from tender poultry meat and, thanks to its good nutritional values, is ideal for a vegan diet low in calories and fat. Due to the meat-like texture and the neutral taste, it can be refined with spices and oils as desired and is the perfect basis for all types of curries or for wok and pan dishes.
