Lotao's products: 100% vegan, organic and sustainable

It all started with rice. Lotao founder Stefan Fak got to know the variety and flavors of the supposed filling side dish a good ten years ago on his travels through Asia. He decided to bring the largely unknown or forgotten aromas and flavors of Asia to Europe in order to build a culinary bridge between the continents. Since 2011, Lotao has been tracking down exotic, honest and sustainably produced foods in Asia and providing variety in the kitchen with its product range. Stefan Fak himself made a name for himself as the first Risolier. In addition to rice specialties (including black and red whole grain rice as well as high-quality basmati rice smoked over beech wood or refined with spicy turmeric), the Lotao range now also includes organic sugar specialties and a unique selection of jackfruit and snacks. Brand new on offer are the practically delicious and 100% natural organic snack pots, the spicy veggie balls and the veggie hack based on pea protein and jackfruit. Finally, the pulp of the power fruit with its fleshy texture and neutral taste offers the ideal conditions for a vegan meat substitute. Since its founding, Lotao has set itself the goal of tracking down original, fairly produced food from the Asian region and making it accessible to everyone. Inspired by a trip to the Vietnamese Meng Delta, founder Stefan Fak initially developed a special passion for the cultivation and traditional preparation of rice. He founded his company in 2011, initially as a one-man show. On offer: Six types of rice, sustainably and fairly produced. He made a name for himself as the first Risolier in Germany and thus became a real authority when it came to rice. Other culinary treasures from Asia quickly followed - from special types of sugar, such as rice or agave sugar, to coconut specialties and jackfruit from Indonesia. The tree fruit's taste and fibrous consistency are reminiscent of meat. Thanks to its high amount of fiber and its low calorie, fat and sugar content, it is rightly considered a superfood. All products are 100% natural and produced fairly and sustainably. And the team has also grown: Lotao currently employs around 28 people in production, sales, logistics, product development and quality management.

Jackfruit fruit pulp:

With the 'Lotao Green' product range, Lotao has managed to easily integrate the exotic jackfruit into everyday life. Obtaining the fruit fresh in Europe is usually very time-consuming - and even then it is not easy to process. The completely natural and ready-to-cook products from the Lotao range, on the other hand, can be prepared in no time and are very easy, thus providing variety in the kitchen. From “natural” jackfruit to jackfruit teriyaki to goulash – there are no limits to the vegan chef’s heart. Brand new on offer: the jackpots in the Bolognese and Curry varieties. Open the lid, pour in hot water, stir and wait a moment: the perfect snack is ready for a special natural enjoyment. Like the ingredients themselves, the cup is also sustainable and consists largely of renewable raw materials.
Also new in the range: the Veggie Balls, a vegan, exotic variation of the classic meatball. The fine-fiber balls are firm to the bite and juicy and can be used in the same way as regular meat balls. With the new Jackfruit Veggie Hack you can also wonderfully conjure up classics such as lasagna, minced skewers or chili. Consisting of pea protein and jackfruit flour, the Veggie Hack is allergen-free, unique in its bite and, above all, incredibly tasty. More exciting products from the Jackfruit 'Lotao Green' range are planned.
Since Lotao's business principle is based on a win-win for everyone involved in the value chain, Lotao naturally pays fair prices for its selected farmers, ensures fair working and growing conditions and has also launched a development project that includes the production of the jackfruit involved -Organic farmers professionalized and the quality of the fruits improved. The project is supported and implemented together with the German Investment and Development Company (DEG) and an agricultural foundation in Bangalore, India.
