Berlin, February 13th, 2019 – LPP Lotao GmbH, provider of Asian delicatessen specialties in organic quality, is once again represented at BIOFACH with exciting new products this year. In addition to the tried and tested Lotao rice specialties, the company presents innovative new creations with jackfruit under its own brand “Lotao Green”. “After intensive research with the “miracle fruit”, we are pleased to be able to present new products for the organic trade in the convenience food, snack food and fresh food segments,” explains Stefan Fak, Managing Director at Lotao. “With our Lotao Green line, we are expanding the “meatless” portfolio and offering attractive alternatives for demanding customers in the organic segment and in the area of vegan products,” says Fak.
The jackfruit food trendWhen it comes to meat substitutes, jackfruit is considered the new discovery in the food segment. When unripe, the largest tree fruit in the world can hardly be distinguished from poultry meat in terms of consistency and texture and, thanks to its good nutritional values, is ideal for a low-calorie diet. Lotao sources the jackfruit from 100 percent organic farming in Indian farmer cooperatives, where it is harvested by hand and, after removing the peel, is processed into pieces and sent in portions.
The vegan snack for in between – “Crispy Jack” jackfruit chips
The organic jackfruit chips “Crispy Jack” are an absolute innovation. The natural, fruity snack is harvested by hand in Indonesian farmer cooperatives, gently chopped and hot air dried. The production guarantees that the exotic flavors and the crispy consistency of the vegan chips are preserved. Crispy Jack is natural and guaranteed free of palm oil and added sugar. The sugar contained is a natural component of the fruit.

Meatless innovation in the fresh food aisle – the Lotao Green saladsLotao “Jackfruit Flying Jack” and “Jackfruit Spicy Jack” are the new products on the fresh produce shelf in 2019. The jackfruit-based salads offer customers who want to limit their meat consumption an attractive alternative in their trusted organic food stores. The “Jackfruit Flying Jack” salad contains - in addition to the finely seasoned, nutritious and fiber-rich pieces of young jackfruit - tangerine and fresh herbs. Refined with spices, the salad becomes a tasty delicacy with a taste reminiscent of a conventional chicken salad. “Jackfruit Spicy Jack” is a vegan Tex-Mex salad made from jackfruit, legumes and vegetables. This fiery salad is also based on pre-seasoned pieces of young jackfruit in a spicy combination with Hungarian peppers, Mexican chili and fine organic corn.
The Lotao Green salads “Jackfruit Flying Jack” and “Jackfruit Spicy Jack” will be available from May 2019 in 150 gram packaging in well-stocked organic and grocery stores or via the Lotao online shop at a price of EUR 2.49 each (RRP).
BBQ meets Asia – the “Jackfruit Burger”
The ready-to-pan jackfruit organic patties are the meatless alternative to the classic burger patty. Thanks to their sophisticated flavor profile and crunchy texture, the hearty burgers are an absolute pleasure for every vegetable lover. The meat-like consistency of jackfruit, mixed with plant proteins, transforms the vegan classic into a sophisticated, exotic delicacy. Already seasoned and refined with fresh herbs, you can fry the burger immediately and get a tasty dish in a short time. Whether chopped up to garnish bowls, as mockmeat in wraps, or as a typical patty in veggie burgers - the jackfruit organic patties are all-rounders that can easily be adapted to the taste of any vegan gourmet.
The Lotao Green “Jackfruit Burger” will be available from March 1st, 2019 in 180 gram packaging (2 x 90g) in well-stocked organic and grocery stores or via the Lotao online shop at a price of EUR 3.99 each (RRP).
Vegetarian version of a winter classic – jackfruit goulash
The convenience product “Jackfruit Goulash” has been new to the product family since 2018 – already the fourth flavor from the convenience product range at “Lotao Green”. The vegetarian-vegan dish offers a fine alternative to the hearty classic. To make “Jackfruit Goulash”, it is cooked over a low heat for several hours with fine fried onions, which gives the sauce a spicy depth. Tomatoes, fine organic rose peppers, marjoram and small amounts of the “Lotao Rice” Kiss rice sweetener round off the basic aromatic impression. To prepare it, the finished “Jackfruit Goulash” mixture only needs to be heated in a pan for five minutes or warmed in a water bath.
In addition to the three Lotao Green variations “Curry”, “Teriyaki” and “Pur”, “Jackfruit Goulash” is now available in 200 gram packaging in well-stocked organic and grocery stores or via the Lotao online shop for the price of 3 each .99 EUR (RRP) available.
