Autumn, pumpkin season and Halloween . No wonder that trendy “coffee shops” are now jumping on the bandwagon and offering the American trendy drink Pumpkin Spice Latte in their stores. Unfortunately, the “Pumpkin Spice Latte” from the store is quite a calorie bomb. The PSL from Starbucks, in the smallest size (tall), has around 200 calories. In the USA, the drink uses sugar syrup - which, in addition to 37 grams of sugar, also contains condensed skim milk, sweet condensed milk from non-fat milk and a few other ingredients such as colors and artificial flavors. It is very easy to do without additional calories and table sugar - by simply making the pumpkin spice latte yourself : with pure natural ingredients, digestible coconut blossom sugar, a small amount of calories and much cheaper than in the coffee shop. Here is my favorite pumpkin spice latte recipe that Kristin from Veganz developed for us: Pumpkin Spiced Latte!
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp pumpkin puree (e.g. from cooked Hokkaido pumpkin)
- 3 tbsp Lotao Java Kiss coconut blossom sugar
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 1 pinch of cardamom
- 240 ml. soy milk
- 2 espressos
Preparation:
- Mix pumpkin puree with Java Kiss coconut blossom sugar and spices, then pour in hot foamed soy milk.
- Pour a double espresso on top and enjoy hot. It's that simple - and ready to enjoy!
