In the race for the most natural vegan meat substitute, the young jackfruit easily takes first place! With its fibrous texture and delicious consistency, it is incredibly reminiscent of chicken meat. The natural taste absorbs all sorts of flavors well and is therefore the ideal basis for our vegan grilled skewers. These are prepared super quickly and are ideal for the next vegan barbecue or simply for frying in the pan.
The Austrian food blogger Jelena Maier from Schnabularasa has the recipe for this developed for us.

Ingredients for 2-3 people:
✓ 8,00g Natural jackfruit in a can
✓ 80 ml soy sauce
✓ 60 ml maple syrup
✓ 2 tbsp sesame oil
✓ 1 tbsp rice vinegar
✓ 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
✓ 2-3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
For the topping:
✓ Peanut sauce
✓ Peanuts, chopped
✓ Thai basil
✓ Limes
Preparation:
For the marinade, put all the ingredients in a bowl, mix and let steep briefly. Drain the jackfruit, cut it into bite-sized pieces and add it to the marinade. Let it steep for 1-2 hours or overnight.
Skewer the jackfruit and grill it on the grill or in the pan until it takes on color. Serve with peanut sauce, chopped peanuts, Thai basil and lime.
