Jackfruit tacos

Easy vegan jackfruit tacos! Ready on the table in just 25 minutes and so delicious even meat eaters will love it! These tacos are a perfect, quick and easy meal. Packed with spices and refined with a squeeze of lime – eating tacos is fun!

Ingredients for the jackfruit filling:

  • 2 packs Lotao Green Jackfruit , chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon coconut blossom sugar
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    Ingredients for the tacos:

    • 8 taco shells, hard or soft (gluten-free if desired)
    • 1 avocado, sliced
    • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
    • 1/4 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
    • Lime wedges


    1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add the onions and garlic and sauté until the onions are softened and starting to brown slightly, about 5 minutes.
    2. Add the chopped jackfruit, broth, coconut blossom sugar, lime juice and all spices to the pan and cover. After heating once, reduce the heat and then let everything simmer for about five minutes until the jackfruit has softened slightly and absorbed about half of the liquid.
    3. Now mash everything using a potato masher to get a shredded texture.
    4. Fill the tacos: Heat the taco shells according to the preparation instructions. When warm, add a spoonful of jackfruit and top the taco with a slice of avocado, a few slices of red onion, some cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice. It also becomes super tasty if you add other vegetables such as red beans, lettuce or peppers as toppings and serve the whole thing with a fruity salsa or vegan mayonnaise!
